Scratch Treatment

Since the boom of compact discs in the market, people have been dealing with the concerns about the frustrations brought by scratches and damages on their cds. As much as we try to deny being careless and clumsy at times, it is factual that we sometimes forget how to properly handle our precious compact discs when we take them out of their cd cases that protects them.

If you have experienced listening to a skipping cd and experienced watching a movie that abruptly stops at a certain part, you may have a scratched cd. There are some things you can do in order to fix this instead of immediately looking for a new copy as a replacement. The first thing you should do is to inspect the scratch. There are some spots that may appear like scratch yet they are just smudges of dirt. If this is the case, you can just clean your compact disc using a soft cloth, some lukewarm water and a cd cleanser which you can find available in local stores. Real scratches can be treated with a cd repair kit that can be bought in the internet. Repair kits are advisable if you have a lot of scratched cds to repair and polish.

If the scratch is on the other side of the cd, where the label is on, the problem may be unfixable as the underside of the label serves like a mirror that reflects off the laser from your player making it readable for your disc player. Therefore, any damage on this part may cause unsolvable problem.
